Not that I want to be a push over or anything. But I got black rimmed specs. You see, I used to wear them throughout high school, so it’s legitimate…really. And everyone else in my family has them, so it’s for familial unity too. Okay, the thing is wearing flip flops and cargo shorts is a dead give away… and with this crew cut? c’mon. I might as well try a little bit right? The glasses guy said this pair was very “man.” Well, whatever.

A New Room and a New Roomate

I met my new roomate today.  He’s a bigger guy, not what I’m used to (i.e. steve tu) but hey, he’s nice and can cover me when I don’t know what’s going on.  His name is zhang cheng zhe.  I have no idea what his English name is and he seems far to ashamed about it to let me in on the what and the why.

The apt. is getting there in terms of furnishing.  I’ve got my desk, bed, chair and printer.  Internet is getting hooked up tommorow morning, so I’ll have that too soon enough.  More importantly I have my soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, brown sugar, oil and various chinese sauces.  I’m ready.

Maybe I’ll go study my dictionary.  pictures are coming.

Taiwan!

I’ve arrived in Taiwan.  Things are going well.  Registered for classes today.  Tommorow I’ll see my apartment.  I think I’m getting a Lenovo for all you nerds out there.

Taiwan design is either digi or imitation-japanese.  Too bad.

I think I’m going to be in a class with a lot of white people.  The woman who tested me told me my reading and writing level was 50 percent of my speaking level.  That’s pretty sad.  That means I can’t take intensive courses until I shape up.  School starts Sept. 1

Oh, and I think I’ll be going to Eastbay Baptist Taiwan for Church.

My brother Jon is also successfully matriculated into Jefferson Med school.
